It's funny to think that as a kid I'd run all over the playground without a fear of something bad like this happening, but now I'm pretty sure I may get my head lodged on the monkey bars or something and strangle myself to death.

Funnily enough, I remember reading a book based on the Nightmare on Elm Street series as a kid. A load of short stories where Freddie shows up and butchers a load of kids, then buggers off. One of the charcters mentions the scariest thing she could think of being a slide that turns into a razor blade that dumps you in a vat of alcohol. Of course, the second she falls asleep...

So yeah, looks like you're not the only one to have that fear.

Whenif I have a kid I'm going to train him from as soon as he could walk to constantly check for sharp objects, ranges and lines of sight against all potential opponents and concealment sources, and immediate sources of cover and routes of escape.

And that look both ways street thing, whatever it was.

... D: The news stories about how this has happened freaks out me out the most. I am making someone slide down first the next time I face a slide. Only backfires if that person is out to get me.

Man, I hurt myself enough at playgrounds as it is. I was always getting my foot wedged between the wooden planks on the swinging bridges, and things like that. I don't need other people making playgrounds more dangerous.

Your morbid thoughts series is like a breath of fresh air. I always have thoughts like these. When I was 12, my dad's g/f at the time was showing me how to sew, and for some reason I would always imagine that as I pull the needle and thread through the fabric, the needle would just jab into my eye. I have no idea why I thought that, especially since I wear glasses.

Playground fails always reminds me of when I was almost expelled from school for "molesting" a kid who jumped on a swing I had fallen off of about two seconds prior. His feet were very close to my face, so I grabbed the swing to eject him, roflmao.

I was six at the time. I didn't even know what "molesting" meant. I just thought that I was in trouble for grabbing the swing and removing the threat to my face.

I would take that over a razorblade slide, though.

I had a dream when I was younger that involved a gigantic slide, I was excited to go down it and I did, it was super fast and at the end instead of sliding off towards the ground I was thrown way upwards, like hundreds of feet in the air, and coming back down, my mean-ass 2nd grade teacher caught me. wtf. every time i'm near a slide i'm reminded of the dream though.
